WV Ready for Work Drive at GNO prepares women to enter the workplace with specific clothing items

WV Forward is partnering with the YWCA Charleston and Dress for Success River Cities to hold the first pilot WV Ready for Work clothing drive, which aims to collect and distribute the most needed items for women entering or re-entering the workforce.

Ahead of the annual Girls Night Out event in Charleston, we invite all GNO attendees to bring ONLY the following items to early check-in at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on August 9 between 4-6pm:
  • Suits
  • Black pants
  • White button-down shirts
  • Scrubs
  • Non-slip shoes
These specific items have been identified by clothing closets and charities as the most needed items that will help women pursue and achieve their goals in the workplace. Other items are not welcome at this drive.

If possible, please donate clean/dry-cleaned clothing that is ready for our clients to wear. All items should be in excellent condition (no obvious tears, stains, missing buttons, or broken zippers) and current, purchased within the past 3-5 years. Please contribute only those items you would feel comfortable wearing to an interview or to work yourself.
