High school students from across the state completed the fourth annual 21-day West Virginia Governor's School for Entrepreneurship at the end of June. Charged with turning problems into solutions and refining their ideas into market-ready businesses, products or innovations, the students are practicing essential skillsets to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.
During week two, WV Forward presented on how students can use resources like Opportunity Zones to advance their ideas. WV Forward also participated in judging the final day’s exhibition and pitch presentations, which rivaled those of Shark Tank as seven groups pitched their innovations in front of hundreds of friends, family and community members. The winning groups included a recycled plastic block construction material, a novel orthopedic insert that is tackling autism and related disorders, and an expandable/collapsible luggage company. |
