Special Thanks: Susan Tomasky for moving WV Forward
Born and raised in West Virginia, Susan Tomasky has been everything from top executive at AEP to board member with the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Last week, Susan spent time moving WV Forward by sharing strategic advice and support on power costs, pay equity, dependent care and volunteering further assistance.
"I am so impressed with the work WV Forward is doing, and so excited at the prospect of the value this can bring to the people of West Virginia. Sometimes it feels like pushing a boulder up a hill — but I truly believe this effort can do it."
Susan lauded WV Forward’s partnerships to remove workforce barriers.
"Securing child care for my daughter when I was offered a job at AEP was a make-or-break factor for me. We can’t keep and attract top talent in top jobs if they are struggling with inadequate care."
WV Forward’s emphasis on education as a path to prosperity also resonates with Susan. As a child, she experienced the power of education as her father mined coal on the cat-eye shift while getting his law degree by day, and her mother pursued two masters degrees while raising children and working full-time. WV Forward partners are grateful that Susan inherited her parents' ability to juggle by way of offering guidance and advice to WV Forward, adding to her long list of good works.
