Creating recruitment tools for new business and talent

Interested to grow jobs and attract people in your community? There is a tool for that. Or there will be. You asked for it, and we are delivering. Help us map the best of our assets.

The sense of urgency to attract and retain talent and business is palpable. Yet, while the state ranks third for population loss and struggles with low workforce participation, West Virginia has tremendous assets and incentives that can, and should, be used as recruitment tools to attract, retain and grow new business and talent. What do those assets look like in our communities? How can we put it all together and show opportunity and potential?

To support the WV Department of Commerce and statewide partners who are working hard to land jobs and talent in the Mountain State, WV Forward is compiling an economic atlas in pilot areas that includes top factors for those deciding where to live and work. The regional data will spotlight business incentives (such as Opportunity Zones, tax credits and grants), livability traits and workforce assets (such as access to dependent care or addiction reintegration support).

Take a look at the draft Kanawha County map above and tell us what information would be helpful to attracting jobs and talent.
