WV Women Moving Forward seek to close the gender wage gap

All three WV Women Moving Forward working groups have made great strides in tackling workforce barriers, advancing education and addressing wage disparities as we move into the second quarter of 2019. In this week’s issue, we are focusing on work to close one of the biggest gender wage gaps in the country - West Virginia. Without the  full participation of women in our state's workforce, our economy will underperform. Policies such as the Katherine Johnson bill were examined by Delegate Barbara Fleischauer, and factors that can lead to a lifelong gender wager gap were identified.

Interested parties from around the state are joining to dive into professional development best practices like company-wide salary transparency, training on salary negotiation to college students at several institutions around the state, and event planning that address wage disparities that affect workforce participation among West Virginia women and other populations. More information and updates are forthcoming!
