The West Virginia Innovation and Business Model Competition (WVIBMC) wrapped up its inaugural event Saturday, April 6, at Marshall University

The business competition, hosted by Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation, featured student teams from across the state who developed a business model through customer feedback and field research. Winners at Saturday’s competition included “Millions for Medicine”, a team of Marshall University students who created a lottery-type system to help defray medical debt. They will receive $5,000 and an all-expenses paid trip to the Intuit campus in California, as well as an automatic qualification in the International Business Model Competition held in Provo, UT.

Other top winners included another team from Marshall and a student from the University of Charleston. Participating in the first event were  teams from the University of Charleston, Concord University, Glenville State, Marshall University, West Virginia University, and West Virginia Wesleyan.

Intuit Vice President David Zasada was the evening’s keynote speaker and served as one of the judges. For  more information about the event, visit: https://www.wvinnovates.com/finals-event-recap
