Build stronger communities through AARP Community Challenge - Apply today!
WV Forward recognizes that livable communities are foundational to creating places in which people of all ages want to live, work and play – for those who reside here and for those who come to visit. WV Forward is beginning to work with AARP of West Virginia and community leaders on a plan to improve the livability of the state's communities based on the World Health Organization's livability framework, which includes safe a walkable streets, transportation and housing options, access to key services and opportunities for civic participation. West Virginia communities awarded the 2019 AARP Community Challenge will receive funds for community-based “quick-action” projects related to housing, transportation, smart cities and public spaces. The goal is to spark change and build momentum to improve livability for people of all ages. Charleston and Hinton were among the 2017 winning grantees and Hamlin and Morgantown received awards in 2018. Applications for 2019 are open now through Wednesday, April 17th. |
