WV Economic Outlook Report underscores importance of WV Forward efforts
At the 25th annual WV Economic Outlook Conference in Charleston this week, WVU Economist Dr. John Deskins revealed a five-year 2019-2023 economic forecast of the state. He explained that a few regions of West Virginia are seeing economic and population growth, while the remaining areas are suffering from little, if any, positive economic development, socioeconomic disadvantages and a decline in residents. He also commended WV Forward efforts to address all of these challenges head-on.
“There are some real positives in this report, and we shouldn’t lose sight of that,” Deskins said. “At the same time, we have some real challenges, and this state is going to have to roll up its sleeves to address them. Now.”
WV Forward is doing just that, working with Deskins, the WVU College of Business and Economics and numerous partners across the state to work toward greater prosperity and move West Virginia forward.
