Partner Spotlight: MakerMinded
Ahead of the National Manufacturing Day on October 5, WV Forward is partnering with the WVU Center for Excellence in STEM Education and LIFT-Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow, a Manufacturing USA Institute, to bring a new program to West Virginia called MakerMinded. The initiative will help improve STEM education while encouraging more students to study disciplines that will help build the state’s manufacturing talent pipeline - a sector the WV Forward blueprint pegs as ripe for growth.
MakerMinded is an online STEM learning and educational activity platform that connects middle and high school students with cutting-edge STEM and manufacturing learning experiences. As students complete activities, schools receive points and compete against other schools in West Virginia. The competition culminates in a recognition event and prizes for the schools and students accumulating the most points for completing the most activities.
The WV MakerMinded’s goal is to sign up 50 schools and 1,000 users across West Virginia by the end of the 2018-2019 academic year.
