Partner Spotlight: Generation West Virginia
Generation West Virginia is partnering with WV Forward to attract and retain talent in our state. We lose too many West Virginians to opportunities in other states, threatening our state’s tax base, our ability to attract new employers and local leadership capacity in our communities. Generation West Virginia is teaming up to reverse these out-migration trends by accelerating the creation of new jobs and career pathways for diverse opportunity, strengthening quality of place, and sharing lessons learned with decisionmakers across sectors to inform state and local level policies and programs.
Generation West Virginia launched the Impact Fellowship in 2017 as an innovative talent pipeline solution in the state: connecting in-state employers with top talent and connecting young West Virginians with quality employment. Throughout this year-long program, Impact Fellows work at participating Host Companies four days each week, and volunteer every Friday contributing their time and professional skills toward positive change in West Virginia communities. In 2018, the program was recognized as a Finalist in Fast Company's World Changing Ideas Awards. In the first two years, 11 employers have connected with top talent across wide-ranging sectors and nearly 500 people have applied from across the state and around the world for fewer than 20 highly competitive Fellowships.
Generation West Virginia is currently looking for Host Companies to participate in the 2019 Impact Fellowship. If you are interested, please reach out to Natalie Roper at natalie@generationwv.org for more information.
