History on the go

Don’t know much about history? Marshall University is making it easy to learn about our state’s rich history and culture.  The nationally-recognized Clio app is a GPS-enabled history website and mobile app that allows users to customize their experience on the go with walking tours and discovery mode features. It was recently featured by the National Humanities Alliance as a top project for public impact.

Out of 1,400 projects submitted, Clio was highlighted for its ability to help enlighten individuals to the history and cultural experiences that exist near the users, providing a richer intellectual experience.

It’s free! The free Clio website and mobile app offers more than 30,000 entries. No wonder thousands of people use this app daily.  David Trowbridge, Marshall University associate professor of history and director of African and African-American studies and developer of the app, reported that 5,000 to 10,000 people use the app every day.
