WV Forward looking for research on women in the workforce

McKinsey & Company recommends the fastest way to increase the state's GDP is to increase the number of women in the workforce, as West Virginia currently has the lowest percentage of women participation in the workforce across the entire U.S.

Why is our workforce participation rate so low and how can we change that? West Virginia Forward is looking for the answers. Employers and policymakers want to better understand exactly what West Virginia can do to effectively bring women in the labor pool and raise our productivity.

While experts and organizations across the state are working to grow workforce participation, there is more to do to implement game-changing measures. By thinking collaboratively and addressing gaps in research, we can target precise challenges women face in entering or re-entering the workforce. Moving the needle on workforce participation won't happen overnight, but we must be persistent if we want our state's current and future employers to thrive.
